Dogs About Town

These summer holidays offer a great opportunity to enjoy our great state with your dog and support local business at the same time.

Visit one of our local dog beaches for a swim and lunch at a local café. Dog-friendly beaches can be found around the city at Port Melbourne, Elwood, Mentone, and Altona or make it a day trip along the Mornington Peninsula to visit year-round dog beaches at Mount Martha or Safety Beach. Check online for any restrictions that may be in place, and always clean up after your dog!

Take a winery tour with your dog in the Yarra Valley or Dandenong Ranges where you can sample some delicious local wines and produce and enjoy spectacular views. There are several companies that arrange tours (ie Gourmet Pawprints), or do some research online to see which sites allow dogs.

Sign up for a Mystery Picnic – these great companies craft walking or driving tours around various regions of Victoria including the Mornington and Bellarine Peninsulas, Macedon and Dandenong Ranges, Ballarat and Melbourne. Receive your instructions, visit local makers to collect your picnic items and then arrive at your destination to enjoy the spoils and the views. A few options available here include AmazingCo and Mystery Adventures.

Or simply grab a coffee at a local dog café, like The Dog Café in Boronia or The GAP Café in West Melbourne.
