You may have seen ‘Muster Dogs’, a docu series on ABC chronicling the raising and training of a litter of Kelpies to become champion muster dogs. And now season 2 has begun, this time featuring a litter of Border Collie pups. If you haven’t seen it, make the time!

In addition to sharing in the joy that is a litter of adorable pups, we are also taken on an incredible journey of discovery as these dogs reveal their natural talents and learn the ways of working farms. It truly is amazing to see these dogs get to work from a young age herding sheep, cows, even chickens. And their humans are quite remarkable too, creating bonds that go beyond traditional owner and pet. One farmer commented that he can rely on his dogs like no human – they are his constant companions no matter the weather, working as a team and putting in the hours together until the job is done. He also notes that the dogs keep herds calm and organised, reducing the stress they can sometimes experience being moved around.
‘Muster Dogs’ gives us another great example of how dogs improve our lives in big and small ways, and a timely reminder about the hard work that our farmers put in to provide for all of us. It is a must-see for dog lovers!
